Since I was heading down for another work meeting at Asilomar, we decided to go down a day early for a whale watching trip from Monterey Whale Watch. This is the season for gray whales. Liz had never been whale watching before, and this was perhaps not the kindest introduction to open water travel! It was very cold, very windy, and the boat was really rocking and rolling. As if that wasn't enough, the whales were feeling very shy, though we saw plenty of dolphins, sea lions, and various seabirds.
