Thanks to its reported ties to Shakespear’s Hamlet, Kronborg Castle is undoubtedly one of the most popular places to visit in DK. Compared to Frederiksborg, Kronborg was clearly built with much more focus on the military, and it shows in it’s substantially less flashy exterior and many fortifications. Not too surprising given that Sweden is visible just across the water. We toured only the casements and the chapel, both of which were impressive. After Kronborg we fuelled up with some freshly made ice cream, and then wandered around Helsingor. St Mary’s Cathedral was yet another amazingly well preserved building.
