Monterey Whale Watching Trip
Traveled to Asilomar (Pacific Grove, CA) for a work-related meeting, and one morning we were up way too early to go whale watching! We were at the boat around 6:30am, so we got to see the sun rise. It was a spectacular morning, as it wasn't too cold, the sky was clear, and the sea was calm- perfect! Oh, and there were lots of whales, too. Most of these images were captured with my 18-70mm lens, but a few were taken with a borrowed 500mm lens, which was quite challenging to use as manual focus is quite tricky on a moving boat with moving targets! The whales are all Grey Whales, which were migrating down to Mexico. It would be fun to go back later in the summer to see them on their return trip, and also maybe see some Blue Whales, too...
