A nice early-season 3-day trip to Yosemite's Hetch Hetchy Valley with Clara, Jacquie, and Yanny.

We arrived Friday afternoon and walked out to see Wapama Falls before setting up camp at the Hetch Hetchy Backpackers campground.

Saturday morning we departed from the Mather Ranger Station trailhead and headed up to Smith Peak. We covered ~9 miles with ~3,000 ft of elevation gain, with about half of the elevation coming in the final 1.5 miles- ouch!  Smith Peak is the only summit in Yosemite where you can (legally) camp, and we had it all to ourselves!

After a mild night we headed back to the trailhead via a slightly longer route. Along the way, we saw lots of flowers and very few other hikers.
